Update 02/24/03: FINALLY, THE REPORT
Update 02/17/03: BEFORE THE REPORT

I don't think I'll finish my Katsucon 9 con report before the end of today, seeing as I haven't started on it yet, so I decided to list off the highlights:
    - Psycho Stalker Chicks' Anime Pajama Party
    - Megatokyo Panel: Fred proposed to Sara(h).
    - Silent Bob's Jay Tryouts (Slag tried out)
    - Capcom vs SNK 2: Old school style beats new school style.
    - DDR Projected on the wall across the opening (you had to see it).
    - Watching the snow fall on the town from my hotel room at 3:30am.
    - First time at a strip club (restaurant).
    - Driving home in a blizzard (but behind four snow plows).

These things will be elaborated in the report, as well as the low-points. Well, driving home was kind of scary. There were more people on the road than expected for almost two feet of snow.

Update 02/12/03: MY TWO CENTS: TWO THOUGHTS, A PENNY EACH

Katsucon 9 is the day after tomorrow. And the day after that and the day after that. I'll be there with video camera. First time with a video camera, so it probably won't turn out so well, but it'll be a learning experience. It helps that I've never used this video camera before, and have yet to even see it (it belongs to a friend). It should be fun regardless.

I'm really hoping to see Cowboy Bebop Session XX on the movie DVD. It wasn't on any of the series DVDs, which was disappointing. I've seen it in fansub, and it's really cool. While the animation is just clips of all the previous episodes (it was shown right before the last episode in Japan), the dialogue is each character talking about a specific topic. The most frequent topic among them is food. They're not talking to each other, mind you, it's almost as if they're writing down an entry in a journal they expect someone to read someday.

The commercials were bizarre, to say the least, and certainly didn't fit the mood of the show. I don't think I'd want to drink anything called "Jelly Drink", and I don't know how much of a target audience they're going for saying it's for "spinners", which is what they call people who play with yo-yos. Those crazy Japanese.

Update 02/07/03: ARRRRRRRRRRR

The patch a person wears over the eye is partly to protect the empty socket from further damage. How would a one-eyed person feel if their patch got replaced with one that flipped up on its own rather frequently? They'd probably feel like every Network Administrator who uses Microsoft products.

Microsoft releases hordes of patches for its programs all the time. They have many new security patches every day. Yet, some of these patches actually open new security holes. Also, if you install the patches out of order, you have a good chance of getting anally fucked by those patches. Fortunately, there's programs you can buy to assist you with patching in order. Unfortunately, those programs don't resolve the problems with the patches.

The fact that I even have to use a separate program just to be sure I'm installing patches in order is absurd. Why is it that they just can't get it right ever? Nobody releases more patches than Microsoft. And nobody releases such ineffective patches as Microsoft. What the fuck is wrong with them? Why do they undo old security fixes with new ones?

They think they're great just because they're business plan worked so well. Of course it worked. It was created by the Mafia. You steal all the good stuff, then muscle out the competition. The only reason Microsoft's been getting away with it is because they haven't been killing people... as far as we know.

Update 02/05/03: IT BE A PHAT BLUNT

I was thinking about making a website called "whyshitis.com" or "whythefuck.com". It would feature explanations of why the fuck shit is. For instance, do any of you know why Christmas is on December 25th, when it's known damn well that Christ wasn't born that day? Or why so many traditions that have nothing to do with it are celebrated for Christmas? Ironically, most Christmas traditions were created by Pagans. In fact, December 25th was chosen to snub Winter Solstice. You can read all about it here even though the links on that site don't work. I like the other article I read on it better, but I don't know where that was.

In my FAQ you can find why the sky is blue, why you were born, and why God hates you. I guess whyshitis.com could be an extension of that. Knowing me, I'll probably just put a "Why Shit Is" section on this website, rather than go to all the trouble of setting up a money-losing website as a service to the five people who randomly happen upon it, when all the info is in fact availabe somewhere on the net should you choose to search for it.

Well, there's other clever domain names that serve some sort of pupose. You just have to find them.

Update 02/04/03: I'M SUPER, THANKS FOR ASKING

Apparently, Wizards of the Coast has hired a new art director for Magic: the Gathering. I don't know how long ago this happened, but I'm pretty sure he had something to do with the ultra-gay new card layout they're hurting us with in 8th Edition.

Providing us with further evidence that he is either gay or retarded (possibly both), he has fired Rebecca Guay because he claims that her work is too feminine.

I checked out her website, and feminine wasn't exactly what came to mind. Yes, there are women in a lot of these artworks, but one of my long-standing complaints about the artwork for Magic cards has been the lack of women in them. No, the word that came to my mind was "old-school". Looking at some of the pictures reminds me of works from times long past. Mona Lisa, the most well-known transsexual of all time, comes to mind (in regards to art style). My favorite work of hers was the art for Angelic Page, which can be seen here.

I personally like Rebecca Guay's work. It makes the game feel a bit more dignified, when flavor texts such as that of Werebear work hard to make it feel stupid, and art for cards such as Void and Power Armor work to make the game feel more like Mechwarrior.

Well, WotC is known for making bad decisions. At least they're consistent at something.

Update 02/03/03: TASTES LIKE FISH

I've decided to poll on a couple issues that I thought of huge significance. These would be restaurants in Southeast Asia. Granted, while these restaurants do not have websites of their own, they are conveniently listed on several web directories.

The first restaurant I must mention is King Wang. You can find their phone number here under Restaurants (9th entry down, I believe).

The second restaurant is Tzuei Hung Lo which is apparently near the Noodle Circle. You can find even more about them here than you can about the aforementioned restaurant.

For some reason, Asian pop-culture has long been about forces of good combining their powers to become more ultimate. Thusforth, I propose the most powerful restaurant of all Southeast Asia. A combination of both restaurants. I give you the
    KING WANG HUNG LO
    restaurant.

What they would serve is anyone's guess.
