Update 04/29/03: I CAN SEE YOU ALREADY

Why do people out there feel the need to only use highbeams all the time? It rained a little bit today, so some people were driving around with their headlights on. That's okay, it makes them more visible. But then there's people who feel that their highbeams should be on at all times. In the five minutes I was on the road (most of which was spent at stoplights), I saw two people with their highbeams on. One of which had the great fortune of being across from me at the intersection I was stopped at, so I had to hold my hand up to prevent going blind.

Some people drive with their highbeams on because they can see better at night. Maybe they're too stupid to understand that they're blinding everyone going in the opposite direction. Maybe they just don't care and should be shot. Either way, it makes me want to follow these people to their destinations and beat the shit out of them. Unfortunately, I have neither the drive nor the gall to attempt such a thing. I'm probably a shitty fighter, anyway. Maybe I could just wait until they're gone and remove the bulbs from their highbeams. Think they'd take a hint?

Update 04/28/03: NOT A WHOLE LOT GOING ON

Well, now that I finally have the forum up, I have nothing really to post about. Been watching some anime lately, and playing some games. Nothing all too interesting going on. Car's starting to drive like shit again, may have to get a new one after all. I think there's some part of my house that's broken and needs fixing, but I can't think of what. Nobody's moved into the townhouse next door to me, yet. All in all, it's a pretty dull world I live in.

Update 04/25/03: I HAVE A FORUM

It's not finished yet.  It's far from being finished.  There's more options than I want users to have, and a lot of the graphics are not done yet (okay, all of the graphics are not done yet).  I'm still setting up my own template.  You can view the thread following this post here.  I'm using PHPBB for the forum, as it is easy to configure.  Once I start editing the ASP, which I know nothing about, I'm sure it'll get all kinds of screwed up.

Until then, you can reply to my posts in the thread.

Update 04/24/03: IT'S MUSIC!

The problem with downloading classical music in MP3 format is that all the people who rip classical music are retarded, and as such set the volume so low that YOU CAN'T FUCKING HEAR IT. My playlist hits "Ode to Joy" and I think it's just not playing music for 25 minutes. Can't you people just pick a volume and run with it? Stop ripping CDs if you suck at it!

Update 04/23/03: ON THAT SUBJECT

    Barre chords hurt.

Update 04/21/03: D4 P41|\|!

I've decided to go back to DDR for excersize. I'm going to still do the sit-ups where you keep your back straight, but I'm only going to do 5-10 of them at a time. Weightlifting till I can't anymore doesn't seem to have any adverse effects. The weights feel lighter.

The whole "walking with energy" thing kinda works. It helps to do it occasionally, but usually it just hurts more than stumbling around. Stumbling around often has its own drawbacks... like walls, and the places they meet. Sometimes I think the hallway is a wall social gathering.

At least I'm not falling asleep at the workplace as much. I think the warmer weather might have something to do with it. There's flowers near the front entrance. They're red and yellow. I like sunflowers. They're topheavy.

Update 04/18/03: HERE COMES THE SUN

Sun Microsystems rocks! I'm not going to say why, but you can bet it has something to do with the self-installing Java SDK for Linux that I just installed on my Linux server. No more hints than that, though.

Update 04/17/03: IN MONO WHERE AVAILABLE

Stereo didn't bother me until I started listening to music at work.  Having an imbalance of sound is really quite annoying.  The Beatles apparently loved it, because they have a number of songs where some instruments come out one side and a few sounds come out the other side.  I will call them the Kings of Imbalanced Stereo.

I also love listening to AC/DC with only one headphone, which I sometimes do so I can hear people approach me better.  This is fun because, while I also can't stand Brian Johnston's voice, I always put in the wrong headphone.  Highway to Hell only has guitar on one side.  You can faintly hear it out of the headphone I have in, then I switch and it's fine.

Most modern music has the same channel on either side.  I like that.  I hate modern music, though.  Mostly.

Update 04/17/03: EXCERSIZE

I've been doing these sit-ups lately where you keep your back straight while doing them.  It uses muscles I wasn't aware of possessing, and I'm not sure they're the ones located immediately where all the fat on my chest is (which is incidentally 50% of my body fat).  At first, it was really hard to do them.  I got maybe 5 done on the first day before giving out.  Now I can do about 30.  The thing is, it doesn't hurt when I get to 30, my body just no longer performs the function I was just a second ago pounding away at like it was nothing.  I suddenly can't life my upper body.

This wasn't a problem until yesterday.  I figured, no pain, excersize is done, good deal.  Well, when I went to bed last night, I was getting adjusted the way I normally do, and when I made a motion that slightly resembled sitting up, I had an intense pain in my lower abdomen.  I cried out in pain, not because the pain was so bad, but because it just came out of nowhere.  The instant I stopped trying to sit up, the pain stopped.

I have my alarm clock set very loud.  This way, it scares the shit out of me every morning it goes off.  I've found that's the best way to keep from shutting it off and immediately going back to sleep.  So, when my alarm goes off this morning, I immediately sit up out of shock.

    Ow.

Maybe there's just something wrong with my body where I don't feel pain right away.  The idea of that seems quite ironic to me, as I'm generally in pain all the time.  I'd imagine most creatures on the planet are, we just get used to it after a while.  I only notice mine because I'm all too aware of everything that doesn't matter.  I've also found that if I ignore the pain that comes from being hungry, I'll stop being hungry.  Works for about a day.

I guess the moral of the story is to know your limits.  I think I found one the hard way.  I'm glad I never got into alcohol.

Update 04/15/03: IT'S MILLER TIME

Young'ins be drinkin' a lot these days. Pairnts got somethin' against it. Ah don't see why a little drinkin' is such a probbem. I mean, thar yung, let 'em have their fun.

Wha, ah know that if I been drinkin', ahm'a have me a good ol' time. Juss the other naht, me and Billy Bob and Jeb been drinkin' out on Jeb's truck's hood. Update 04/11/03: STATUS UPDATE

Walking was getting to be a problem. I was so tired, I'd be stumbling around, just trying to make it to the bathroom down the hall. Somewhere along the line on Wednesday, I decided that I was going to walk as if I was not only not tired, but rather energetic. Granted I didn't have the energy to actually accomplish this, but I wasn't about to let something like that stop me.

I began taking long but quick steps. It hurt a lot at first, but it was a very short moment later that the pain mostly subsided. I also started to feel awake. The feeling lasted for a little while after I sat down. Once it started to go away, I just went to the bathroom again. I didn't really have any business there this time, but it's really the only place to walk to. This time, the feeling lasted longer.

Yesterday we had the company meeting, and I was very busy all morning, so I didn't have any time to experiment. Today I moved 50-100 boxes (or rather, assisted in moving them), so the whole walking with energy thing is a little more painful as a result. My arms actually hurt just typing this. So, due to events of yesterday and today, there were no experiments. However, Wednesday seemed pretty successful. The stretches didn't really help.

Update 04/09/03: APPENDAGE

I should note that my RAID controller is working again... sort of. It works most of the time. I've gone back to my original setup, although I still can't boot into Win98. I had been meaning to finish setting up Win2k for a while, anyway. Linux still works.

Update 04/09/03: PAIN

Having been off the caffeine again for the past few weeks, I'm starting to remember exactly how it was I was feeling around the time I decided that maybe I should start drinking tea. I remember now how I felt when I had been off caffeine for many years and was showing up to work at 9:00am regardless. I bet most people would think this to be withdrawal, but I remember the pain of those days, and it has now revisited me.

I'm going to try an alternative to caffeine, though, rather than go back on it. I'm going to try doing stretches and small excersizes. I can do these in the privacy of the server room, so no one has to bear witness to the hilarity that is me working out (stretching at least). I just did some, and I felt pretty awake afterwakds. It was just ten minutes ago, but I'm already falling asleep again. I'll let you know how it goes.

Update 04/08/03: TOPIC

I generally don't talk about my life because my life is boring. The rest of the combined world is so much more interesting. I should philosophize about it.

Update 04/05/03: INFLATION

Nowadays, they can advertise anything. You can put a big, bright label on a jar of painkillers that reads "Now kills less pain!", and people will buy it.

For example: Boboli Thin Crusts, which I often get, have a sticker on the front that reads "New low price! $2.99". That would be great if the old price wasn't $2.89. So, they raised the price 10¢ and advertise it like it's a good thing? That's America for you! Land of the open-wound opportunity.

The truly sad part is this: It wouldn't work if people weren't so god-damned stupid.

Update 04/01/03: APRIL FOOLS

Despite it being April Fool's day, I figured I'd talk about computers. I keep hearing that ASUS makes a good, stable motherboard, but so far my experiences with their stuff have been less than impressive. In fact, out of all the boards of theirs I've worked with, none of them have given me no problems. Granted, that's not much to say about motherboards, but theirs are the only motherboards that give me such obviously motherboard-related issues.

The other day, the RAID controller portion of my ASUS board died on me. Getting it to stop trying to use it was a pain, and only works sometimes (it still occasionally tries to load the RAID). This motherboard has always had issues. Trying to contact them turned out to be quite the task, too. I had to do a search on google, and got the number from someone else's website, because the one they provided in the manual was getting picked up by a modem (as was the other number, which was for the fax).

I hate it when my computer doesn't work. Drives me nuts. Windows 98 won't even load anymore. I can only boot into 2000. I'll probably get an ABit motherboard next time. Their video card has worked pretty well for me so far.
