SUICIDAL TENDENCIES

I first heard Suicidal Tendencies on 21 Jump Street, a popular TV show in the 80's. The song was "Institutionalized". I didn't much like it at the time, but I was also in elementary school at the time. My brother, however, got the album. He also got their later albums "How Will I Laugh Tomorrow...", "Controlled By Hatred/Feel Like Shit, Deja-Vu", and "Lights, Camera, Revolution". It was the last of those three I borrowed from him some years later to discover that they were, in fact, quite an amazing band. They were also one of the first heavy metal bands I ever liked.

Suicidal Tendencies is still going even after a breakup at some point and many band member changes. In fact, their longest hiatus was after their first album. Mike Muir has remained the front-man the entire time, though, the only remaining original band member. They're probably touring right now somewhere.

Their music can be described generally as a mix of punk, thrash, and speed metal (I know there's not much difference, work with me here). They've even experimented with a little psychadelic, jazz, blues, and funk, the last of which spawned a whole new band, Infectious Grooves. They've also evolved as a band, more than just who's in it.
